Buttermilk Scones


Buttermilk Scones

  • 1 c buttermilk warm
  • 1 pkg Grandpa's Kitchen Bread Mix
  • 1 Tbsp yeast
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 2 Tbsp sugar
  • 4 tsp baking powder
  • 2 eggs beaten
  • ½ tsp baking soda
  • 1 Tbsp oil


  • Combine dry ingredients in a bowl. Mix wet ingredients together and add to dry ingredients. Beat together until well combined. Cover and refrigerate for 2 hours.
  • Heat oil to medium–low temperature (if the oil is too hot it will burn the outside of the schone and leave the inside raw). With well-greased hands form about ½ c batter into a flat, round scone. Gently place in the oil. Cook on one side until golden brown and then using tongs turn the scone over to cook on the other side. Remove from oil and place on a paper towel to cool. Serve warm with honey butter.
