Heather’s (Carol Milne) Apple Pie

Prepare two pie crusts using the No Fail Pie crust recipe.

  • 8 c apples peeled/cored/sliced
  • ½ c brown sugar
1 tsp corn starch
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
½ tsp nutmeg
  • 1 Tbsp lemon juice
  • 2 Tbsp butter


  • Cook apples in a large pot with water until just barely soft. Remove from heat and drain water. Combine sugars, cornstarch, cinnamon, and nutmeg in a small bowl.

Sprinkle 1/3 of mixture in lower pie crust, ½ of apples, 1/3 sugar mixture, last of apples, then last of sugar mixture. Sprinkle with lemon juice and scatter butter pieces over the top. Cover with top pie crust and pinch the top and bottom crust together. Make slits in top crust and brush with milk, then sprinkle with a little sugar.  Bake at 400 degree for 30-40 minutes or until juices bubble thickly. You can cover the edge of the pie crust with foil to keep it from browning.
