Whole Grain Bread
Ingredients
- 1 ½ c buttermilk
- 1 pkg Grandpa's Kitchen Pizza/Bread Mix
- ¼ c vegetable oil
- ½ c oatmeal flour
- 1 egg
- 1 Tbsp psylium husk
- 1 tsp vinegar
- 1 Tbsp GF dough enhancer
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1 Tbsp yeast
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 Tbsp of four or five different gluten-free whole grain flours*
Instructions
- Put the oatmeal flour and whatever other flours you want to use in a 2 c measuring cup. Add Grandpa’s Kitchen pizza/bread mix until you measure 2 c 1 Tbsp of total flours. Add psylium husk, dough enhancer, baking powder, salt, and yeast, set aside.
- You can follow the directions on the pizza/bread mix to finish the recipe. Heat the buttermilk in the microwave for 45 sec and then add the vegetable oil, beaten egg, and vinegar.
- Dump wet ingredients into the bread maker, dump the dry ingredients on top of the wet ingredients and start your bread maker. Set on dough selection and make sure the batter is completely mixed so there are no dry lumps.
- Turn dough into an 8×5 inch bread pan. Do not let your dough rise too much once you put it in the pan or it will be airly and dry. Letting it rise just to the top of the bread pan is perfect. Bake at 350 degrees for 45 to 50 minutes. Watch your bread, if it starts to get too dark on top, place a piece of tin foil over the bread until done. If you over cook or under cook the bread it will sink, it will still taste good, but it will look strange.
Notes
*Be creative, these are the different flours we have used:
